Customer ratings and reviews for HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast, Clear, Nice Software Used to scan boxes of 35mm color slides and dozens of std. size photographs. Unit scans quickly, clearly, and included software is quite nice. Price point is perfect for our use; price from the HP online store is extremely competitive. Software in parts is less than intuitive and could use some tweak to UI. Overall very pleased. Delivery from HP was quick. March 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great scanner 4 lots of photos I have lots of photos to scan and this one is able to scan multi-photos at at time with great clarity. It's a time saver. March 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by nicktapa HP G4050 Compact and very efficient unit, does what you would expect from more expensive units. The built-in program is quite versatile although at times it can be a bit confusing. The quality of the output is extremely satisfactory. The controls on the cover are easy to use. In general a great buy for the money... I recommended... March 4, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by NOTHING HIGHER THAN 300 DPI Have HP computer, so HP SCANJET G 4050 should work with computer. To date, haven't been able to get scanjet to reliably interface with desktop. Have worked with several HP support agents and they have only been able to occassionally get film negatives to scan at 300 dpi. 300 dpi "pictures" look grainy on computer screen. Would like to scan at listed 1200 dpi, but the scanjet yields error code. HP support has also tried using Vuescan software and as of this time, NOTHING works. You'd think an HP computer would easily work with an HP Scanjet. February 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Old technology The G4050 is an adequate flatbed scanner for home use, but it has been on the market for at least 3 years. Seems odd that all sorts of other technologies have forged ahead, but scanning hardware and software have not improved. I was forced buy an HP scanner to prevent driver conflicts with the other HP IPG devices now on my system. I was satisfied with performance of my 3970 but HP declined to keep the software current with Windows, so I had to buy the 4050. February 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far so good. I have used the G4050 Scanner to transfer photos & slides to my PC & all has worked fine so far. It's a good product & I have no complaints. February 5, 2013
