Rated 5 out of 5 Hard to setup but worth the trouble
I had read that this printer was a bit on the flimsy side. This is a very high quality printer in both materials and operation. It did take a call to HP tech support to setup the wireless and Eprinter features. Had to connect the printer to PC for initial setup and upgrades then setup the wireless and Eprint. Other than this the printer is very nice and printed images are the best I've seen.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Roodie Some problems
It is a very good, fast printer and easy to use and install. No problem with the quality of printing.
If you use a lot of different sizes of paper and envelopes, it's a nuisance to have to open the tray every time to change the setting - it will probably be the first part to go. Also, if you have to print 10-15 or more envelopes at a time (e.g. for a mailing) about every other envelope will go through blank; the same applies if you're printing cards. This is really a nuisance.

I need the printer to make a set of 50 2-side plain legal size copies twice a week. This printer screws up 25% of those copies....unbelievably poor performance. The print quality is very crisp, and the colors vibrant for documents and graphics, but the paper up-take is a disgrace, even when you tweak the printer's settings and use new HP paper. I really expected something better.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by texasbaskets Good choice for color label printing
I have a small business that uses a lot of custom printed color labels for my products. I don't need a multi-function machine, so I've been using an Officejet Pro 8000 which is now needing some new printheads. Since it seems like printers just keep getting better with more features for less money, I decided to replace it instead with what appears to be the closest new model, the Officejet Pro 8100. I was also eager to get the ePrint feature which will let my customers email their orders directly to the printer. Standard shipping was free and the printer arrived in just two days, a testimony to the efficiency of the HP shipping department. The packaging of the printer was very good with lots of protective film over the surface so it didn't get marred in transit. The setup instructions were accurate and complete and I installed the drivers on one Windows laptop and a Macintosh laptop as well. In the end, I did have to run an update on the printer for the ePrint feature to work, but it took only 5 minutes. I recommend checking for updates when you are prompted during the installation as it may same some frustration. First impressions are good. This model is much less noisy than the old one both when waking up and when printing. Paper handling works well with glossy finish labels although the paper tray lid doesn't flip up like the 8000 where I could insert special paper when needed, a small inconvenience. When the output tray paper holder is extended, it's somewhat hard to get any but the smallest fingers into the recess in the paper tray to pull it out. I have been putting one hand on each front corner of the paper tray to pull it out as it looks like those indentations were put there just for that purpose and that's working good. I do like the visible ink levels in the frontal display, but I believe this printer was the closest match to the old one I had which was only a couple of years old and begs a debate. In a business class printer, it would be helpful if the old ink cartridges could be used in the new model. I lost the cost of three practically new cartridges when the old printer expired. I'm convinced that lower end printers are now designed to be a throwaway item when they break down. It would be convenient to have a place inside or on the back of the printer to store the installation DVD since those always seem to get lost over time.
I rated this printer 'good' instead of 'excellent' only because of the time I've used it.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PlaneLar I'm technically challenged, but not here.
I need to keep things simple and just want them to work as promised . . . this did, it looks great, fits great in to our available space, and was the right choice. Set-up was a breeze, even for me.
