Customer ratings and reviews for HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter - N811a/N811d

Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional WiFi Color Printer If you want an exceptional WiFi/ePrint with duplexing color printer without fax/scanner/copy then this is it. The footprint is a bit on the large size (approx 18" x 20" with papertray included) but the print quality is very good. This printer has separate ink cartridges and a 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" screen that shows the ink levels. Good build quality. Your choice of WiFi, Ethernet or USB connect. ePrint works fine. A very good all around printer. November 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast and easy to setup This printer really makes a difference each page comes out in seconds, the setup was simple and the wireless abilities was just what I needed. June 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly recommended. This printer was easy to set up. It has excellent print quality and print speed. I especially like the fact that each of the colors has its own ink cartridge. February 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by HP 8100 is a great small printer. It started about two years ago with the purchase of it's big brother the Hp8600 all in one pro. After initial setup, the 8600 was such a great printer that when I had need of a second printer for production work, I immediately looked at the Hp 8100 as a possibility. It has the same basic configuration as the 8600, it just didn't have the scan, copy and fax features which I had no need to duplicate. Perfect! It used the same printer cartridges as the 8600. This reduced my inventory of printers cartridges for backup by 50%! It installed without a hiccup, wirelessly and has operated flawlessly for about the past two years. I often have both printers working together at the same time. The occasional paper jam is usually operator error. When it came time to replace my husband's old photosmart printer (too slow but still prints good photos), I didn't hesitate to search out the best pricing on the 8100 and send in my order. We haven't had time to unpack and set it up, but I expect the same quality of product the third time around. If I had to come up with a negative, the printers are on the noisy side. If you need quiet--shhhush, the baby is asleep-- then you might want to reconsider. However, if durability, reliability, and cost are factors, then the HP 8100 is for you. June 9, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Love the features, but not the product Worked right out of the box for about 6 months, it interfaced with all my computers right away and the features were excellent. Then the problems started, flase paper jams or the carriage would not go all the way back without manually pushing it to the right into position. Every day I would clean the maching as per instructions, it would print flawlessly for about 20 pages, then if it was not used for more than 3 hours, it would false jam again. If it made it through the day, it would not work the next day until I took it apart and cleaned it again - very frustrating. Product support was no help, they repeatedly told me to clean it. I finally concluded the ink seems to clog up the works and makes it not work properly after the ink dries to interior surfaces, thus the required daily cleaning. I finally gave up on it and disconnedted it. I have had over 6 HP Printers over the years, this is the first one that has not worked as it was supposed to, perhaps it's a lemon, but it has really soured me from buying another one! I have read many reviews here and elsewhere of others with the same or similar problems, it must have some sort of inherent flaw. When it worked, the print was excellent, sharp, crisp, and the dupelxor worked great, it is just an unreliable printer that requires too much mainenance! I have only used HP Inks - no refills and the recommended types of paper. May 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Service and Product We always purchase HP. Our last printer was an HP6980, only $69 and it lasted us eight years! I looked and looked for another printer that uses the same cartridge, but couldn't find one :( We have an internet business and print a LOT of paper every day. When it finally started choking, I looked around and found this - had great reviews - the only drawback, and it really isn't that bad, is the paper holder doesn't lift up to fill the paper tray - you have to manually close it and open the tray below - to print envelopes you have to empty it and fill with envelopes; you can't print one at a time. The paper tray is twice as deep as our old printer, which I like, and it has a gauge to track ink levels in the cartridges. There's nothing like printing postage and looking up and seeing the page too pale to use. I like that the color cartridges are separate - you only have to replace the color that is empty and could be a savings. It does print double sided - don't know how yet, but that's a neat feature! So far I'm very happy - it's three times as fast as my old HP and the black cartridge is a little larger so should last three weeks instead of two (printing 50 to 100 pages per day plus postage labels). I had it set up and printing in twenty minutes. April 2, 2014
