Set-up is easy. AirPrint just works. ePrint takes a few minutes to figure out, but also just works (for the file formats supported). Google Cloud Printing (using ePrint) also just works.
The 1st page comes out very quickly. Print quality is as good as any home printer I've owned, and I've owned Epson, HP & Dell laser printers. Special praise for the OCR software that comes with the scanning software (for Windows PCs; I assume it also works on Macs): I scanned some random forms to get an idea of its performance, and it got every character correct, including font, size & position. I was/am blown away. Considering that I got the printer for $199 (after $50 instant rebate & add'l $50 "promo code" on the HP Shopping site), I couldn't be happier. It seems churlish to whine that it doesn't ship with USB or Ethernet cables. The only caveat for this review is that I've only owned it for two weeks, and I haven't tested the fax capability. So far, I am thrilled.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by JenniferWorking good choice for the money!
Bought this to replace an HP LaserJet 3380 that finally saw it's last day. New one isn't as quiet (more tinny/cheap plastic sounding), but works wells.
Pros: Paper feeds well, checks feed well, copies are clean, has a nice small footprint and was very simple to set-up & connect to my computer.
Cons: When you open the scanner portion, your paper will sometimes "stick" to the lid and slide through the crack at the back. If your printer sits on top of a heavy, filled filing cabinet, it's difficult to catch the sliding paper in time before it is lost forever. I put a large envelope between the printer & the wall, so now I have a little "tray" to catch such pieces.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by BobinOrlando AVOID AT ALL COSTS
As a 20+ year HP Printer owner and fan, I am completely disappointed with the direction of HP's degraded design and production like this printer proves. Cheap plastic, shoddy packaging, no quick startup manual are just the beginning of the bad experience. Open the scanner lid and the flex cable at the left hinge pops out and jams so you can never close it again. Why? Because HP designers chose cheap sticky tape to mount the flex cable's hinge rather than a plastic clip or something that would not fail during shipment or use. The image quality is fine except the printer ships with a firmware defect that causes misaligned printouts. Why not upgrade the printer before shipment so the customer doesn't have to find out the hard way? Lousy software finishes the disappointment. Buggy, misleading prompts and counterintuitive setup process just adds up to an AVOID rating. This printer was purchased August 19th to replace my 14 month new HP All-in-One M1536dnf LaserJet which failed with a defective formatter circuit board! Two strikes and HP is OUT! My next purchase will be a Cannon MFC. At least Cannons work. Too bad for HP but they earned my disloyalty.

there were no printed instructions except for attached cd. no scan function buttons on the machine. no function button for printing from mobile device. trays are made cheaply and don't fit securely. Paper does not slide in easily.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by dickenormous got 2 replacement from HP, still same problem.
I bought this printer for work purpose, it does a great job printing lot of document in a little time, easy plug and play, easily set up over home net work (Ethernet not wifi), does fast copying in good quality, really simple to use high volume faxing. But in the end... the ADF is nothing but problem.. contact HP a few time they were helpful, they quickly send me a replacement unit right away, it works fine for a month, then later the ADF fail again, did all the troubleshoot they provide me but it still fail, it wasn't the roller, it was the spring loaded gears that get loosen over time so they lose contact...
Pro: fast, really fast, clean clear text, easy set up over network, cool looking machine, able to send same page of fax to a bunch of different people
Con: toner is quite expensive.. ADF roller always nothing but problem, if you print over 200pages the printer itself will overheat and pages will start sticking together....
if the ADF is fix then this printer will be a perfect 5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5Â by BizGuy101 Great All-In-One
Purchased this to replace my 13 yr old Laserjet 3100 mult-function. Prints fast, easy setup. Used the network setup on main desktop with full features and loaded basic setup on other machines/laptops. Small footprint so, it sits on my desk. Print quality is excellent. I did a ton of comparisons and best quality for the price. Nice thing is that it uses standard HP drivers and not 3rd party app. Toner cartridges cost about same as all others, but can use rebuilt ones from reputable office supply for about 40% less. Don't mess with the $14 ones on internet- most likely drill and fill.
Highly recommend this printer.
Cons: could print a little quieter (but not that bad) and should come with Full toner cartridge instead of the starter
