This is the worst MFP I have ever used. I replaced my Brother MFC 7440n because I wantd a faster scanner. The paper feed unit sounds like I have Alvin and the Chipmonks in there. The paper feed (after being cleaned) squeaks.
Call up HP support and they are not very helpful. I am trying to return this machine but keep getting bounced around. Guess they need my $$$$. If I have to eat this then I will.
They make great printers like my 4014n. No problem with single function machines but not so with MFP.

Bought from HP and delivered faster than stated. Prints super fast but loud, loud, loud for a laserjet, which is only gripe. Skip manual set up as you could do it through the set up software, which is easy and although the instructions indicated needed an ethernet network on the pc by cable, it connected wirelessly automatically. So, no usb cable no problem so long as connected by ethernet. eprint function works great although it does not immediately print.

I work at a small family office and I used it yesterday for the first time. For the cost, it went above and beyond the call of duty. I faxed 121 pages within a couple of hours while I was copying and printing at the same time. Our thousand dollar all-in-ones never let us multi-task at the same time, ever! The setup was user friendly and I was ready to use in no time at all. Print quality is terrific and the machine is easy to operate. The scanner is equivalent to my expensive one at home. I am crossing my fingers that it lasts more than the 3 years we have been averaging on those thousand dollar all-in-ones from HP! If we can get 2 years out of it we will average $125 per year vs $333 per year for the $1000 ones. Based on a 2 year life span, $125 is $10 a month and you can't even lease a unit that cheap! We are definitely sold on this machine!

I purchased this printer to replace my all-in one HP3030 (which works fine, but Win7 does not recognize any of its features except printing). I agree with other reviews as to the noise this makes, and the over-all construction is a bit flimsy. However, the price I paid (half the cost of the HP3030 seven years ago) it is a good value. Perhaps HP could have put a little more money into the construction including some insulation and charged a little more. Overall, the performance, speed, output quality, and features out weigh any negatives.
I connected to my wireless router via a cat5 cable. The set-up disc made this an effortless task. My laptop running on Vista and my desktop running on Win7 are able to utilize all of the M1536 features.

My old MFP laser printer has been in need of work for a long time. Rather than spend money on a 4 year old device, I decided to replace it with the 1536dnf.
No contest! This printer is faster than the old one, about 2/3 the size, and adds great additional features like duplex printing, built in network or USB connect, and ePrint. The construction seems a bit flimsy and light - if this was a laptop, it would probably be broken in a few hours. But once installed in it's place I won't be moving it around, so I'm sure it will be fine.
I haven't had occasion to use the scan feature, but overall it set up easily and has worked great for both Mac and Windows.
I have no hesitation in recommending this printer!
