Rated 3 out of 5Â by bob1234567 this units cursor quits working or disappears
the main problem with this unit is that the cursor disappears or will not move at times. I have to shut down to get it back. this is the second computer and has the same problem. Also the design of the top makes it almost impossible to use on my lap! the back side when open cuts in to my legs unless I keep them spread wider than the bottom of the top! fix the cursor and design and this would be a 5 star unit.

love battery life, fast, love the battery life, love concept. HATE the touchpad. I own 2 of these models. Both have the latest drivers, updates, etc. Touchpad intermittently stops responding. Have to wait a while, reboot, or remove tablet from keyboard and reattach for it to start working again. Bluetooth mouse does similar things. Touchscreen never looses contact. Do your research, this is known problem by other users on the internet. Even guy behing the customer service desk at Best Buy knew of the issues with these models. GET WITH IT HP. Correct these problems and you have a winner.

Just bought this product 2 weeks ago for school and personal use. It does exactly what it says it would do and the intel5 processor is excellent for speed! This is my second hp computer and I love the brand! So far so good HP!

I purchased the split to replace a Pavilion 6500 that was having "issues"; which I guess is normal for anything over 5 years old still running Vista. Definitely a smaller footprint and lighter weight, and the 13.5" display is sharp enough not to strain my old eyes too much; but the split functionality is not as useful as I had thought it might be. Without Swype, the virtual keyboard is pretty cumbersome for anything more than a text-sized message; so I end up taking the whole thing with me if I need to do any work. Two USB ports is not nearly enough these days, so plan on buying a hub. I had issues with the power supply intermittently failing, and the HDMI output just going blank for a few seconds for no apparent reason. I was also planning to upgrade the RAM from 4 to 8 Gb, but discovered that you can't. Still working those out. I can't blame HP for Windows 8, but I'm not a fan. If you don't set up your profile to remain constantly connected to Microsoft, you can't utilize the store to download apps. All in all, though, a pretty good laptop.

I go along with what many others have said. Sometimes the touch screen stops responding, but you can get around it by redocking and then undocking. (I wish you didn't have to do that in software before detaching it mechanically!) Sometimes I lost the keyboard, but never both at the same time.
It also crashes a lot - much more than my old Windows 7 laptop (which almost never crashed). I think it might be hardware related (with the splitting and all that), but I can't be sure.
The most irksome think about it, though, is that I have problems staying connected to my corporate network. I have been told by our IT support that it is Window 8.1-related. I rolled back my WiFi driver and that improved matters, but then Intel updated their driver. It is worse again, but not as bad as before. Windows 8.1 lists the drivers, but gives no indication of which is being used, or a version number, and I can't seem to get back to the previous state. I can connect with my phone, but the laptop refuses to connect and when it does, it loses the connection frequently. I wouldn't upgrade to Windows 8.1 until this is fixed. (Too late for me.)
I also can't update the touchpad driver. It fails during installation.
The bottom line. I love this laptop, but not as much as I should.

Simple instructions and easy configuration setup. Only had it about a week now, but so far it works great with no problems.
