Rated 5 out of 5Â by Buckeyeone Well done, HP
I have had eight or nine laptops over the years, and this by far is the best one I have used. I was considering purchasing a MacBook Pro but he cited on the HP due to the Windows platform (I would have had to purchase all new software). The only caveat with this computer is that it is not offered a larger solid-state drive then 256 GB (MacBook does). Battery life is also exceptional.

HP did a fantastic job designing this Ultrabook. The brushed metal case looks rich, performance with 256gb SSD drives is spectacular. There are a lot of nice touches including backlit keyboard, and the swipe areas on the touchpad.
I am still adjusting to the somewhat confused identity of Win 8.1 interface between desktop and Metro. However, I love the natural feel of the touchscreen.
HP did not overwhelm consumers with bloatware on this laptop. Great job HP.

I love this laptop! I thought Window 8 would be hard to use, but it's really simple with the touchscreen. I used to be one of those people who still had to use a mouse with a laptop, but I don't need it anymore. The touchpad and touchscreen are great!
The computer has awesome speed. The audio and video are high quality.
Even though my interactions with HP in ordering and customer service were 5 star, I recommend that you not choose BillMeLater when purchasing.
HP rocks! We love this new laptop, and our old HP laptop is still working great!
You won't be disappointed with this purchase!

This ultrabook (UB) works very well. The touch screen is excellent, and we like the regular full HDLED 1920x1080 touch screen. On set up we picked the "local account" choice which seems more convenient for regular use. The lighted keyboard is a life altering experience. The battery handled a three hour drive easily with plenty of juice left over. The biggest plus is the weight or rather the lack of it. For some of us with joint problems, it is very easy to lift and carry. Our UB is upgraded to 8GB memory and 256GB flash solid state drive. There have been no problems with the wireless connection so we don't notice the missing ethernet connection slot. Camera OK. Have not yet used bluetooth. The only two minor complaints: The screen is of course a dust and finger print magnet. And the UB is actually somewhat difficult to physically open because it is so thin. A small indentation or lip at the opening edge would be helpful. After 10 days of use and about 50 hours, we give this UB a strong recommendation.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by mattslaptop great size and awesome screen
I maxed mine out...8gb, 256, pro, upgraded screen, etc. I am just getting used to the using my hands like a tablet for some things. I use this mostly to research online, it is a work thing...no games so cannot say there. Size and power are great....the start up time is literally less than 10 seconds(about 7, give or take a sec). Ive learned to run it off my phone so can literally connect anywhere since it goes about anywhere and is super light and super chic. It weighs nothing......Only thing is no bluray, or cd. All stick or download....still trying to wrap my mind around the workarounds. I figure this is what the future will be....all wireless and cd-less. This takes a charge about every 6 hrs if I am really using it. I fought the Windows 8 change, but I am getting used to the hands on approach....it could be a bit faster, but considering the size I think I am spoiled already. I definitely think this keeps pace with the apple, and blows any other laptop this size out of the arena.....not even close.....maybe if you spend 3 grand you might be able to find something, but even then. If you dont have to have massive storage space etc., and even if you do you can cloud it....this thing is awesome as my last laptop just wore me out carrying it everywhere. This is like a feather.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Bobby54 Amazing Ultrabook!
I researched and looked at most of the top rated laptops but the HP Spectre 13 stood out the most. This laptop is stylish, sleek, lightweight, extremely fast, solidly built, and overall a premium machine in all aspects, I absolutely love it! I gave it a perfect score but due to a couple of minor flaws I would more accurately score it a 4.8 if that option was available.
Set Up & Operation - This computer comes pretty much ready to use right out of the box. It took me less than an hour to install the updates, set up my email, install Microsoft Office, and download my antivirus software. Very smooth and easy to set up,
Operating System - The Spectre 13 comes with Windows 8.1 already installed which is a nice upgrade over Windows 8. I for one love Windows 8! Sure, there is a bit of a learning curve with it but there are preloaded Apps to assist with learning Windows 8 and there are more self help Apps that can be uploaded for free. I have found that are dozens of keyboard shortcuts that makes navigation quick and effortless. One feature I like the best is the ability to fully customize and personalize your start up screen, It has been fun to tweak it and change it and put my personal stamp on it. I am convinced that if most people gave themselves enough time, they would grow to like Windows 8 as much as I do. It definitely doesn't deserve all of the negative sentiment and publicity that it has received.
Keyboard - Keyboard is very responsive and the keys are spaced nicely. The backlighting works well and my overall experience with the keyboard has been terrific. Very fluid and functional.
Touch Pad - The touch pad is very smooth and most touch functions flow effortlessly, The side panels for accessing the charm menu and start menu is an added bonus and easy to use. My only complaint which another reviewer mentioned is that occasionally the touch pad doesn't respond to scrolling gestures. When that happens a light tap to the touch pad usually remedies that. I don't think it is a design flaw or a defect in the laptop and doesn't happen often. For me it is an just a minor inconvenience and in no way a deal breaker.
Apps - I find it fun to browse all of the available Apps from the App store. The only drawback is that when installing Apps, if they don't install within about ten seconds, the program times out and you have to try again to install the App. I have no idea why that happens and have heard the same comment from others. This too has been just a minor annoyance and one that I can live with. I have found though that the best time for installing Apps is early in the morning or late in the evening. At those times the process seems to work much better,
Conclusion - This is one of the best laptops available today and won't break the bank when purchasing. I would highy ecommend it to anyone looking for high end appearance and performance.
