The computer came loaded with way too much software that I didn't need. A lot of the programs tried to get me to sign up and pay fees. Some of them were very hard to get rid of. They ruined my experience. I had to pay a computer expert 3 days into using the new computer to wipe my machine of all the pre downloaded malicious/unscrupulous programs that just wanted my money.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Yaya74 I like the computer...
My problem is the battery won't stay on. It keeps falling off. I have tried and tried to get it on, then lock, but that lock button doesn't do a thing. I sure don't want to use Duct tape, but I may have to, just to be able to use it . Other than that, it works just fine. I like the features and am learning to adjust to Windows 8.1 .

You will not find a more feature-packed product for a similar price anywhere.
Here are the pros from my usage so far:
-Comfortable to carry and it has a sleek look and feel
-Good hardware for the price
-Backlit keyboard isn't blindingly bright and can be toggled with a key press
-No legacy connections on board that I'm unlikely to use (No VGA connector, no PCMCIA). Everything is digital except the audio ports.
-The battery for this is tiny in size. I believe it is only 3 cells. This will make future replacement batteries fairly inexpensive. Packing spare batteries will be easy. Battery life is decent depending on usage. On the low end, it's about 3 hours, on the high end, about 4, and possibly more if you use an external monitor and turn off all the other peripherals. I haven't done an in-depth measurement, though.
-Shortcut keys are very convenient and don't need any special key combination to use.
-Does not get hot, even when sitting on a couch or blanket. Heat management is very good with this generation of CPUs.
-Touchscreen works well for the applications that support it.
-Airplane mode button.
Now the cons. Mostly it's just minor stuff:
-The trackpad is a little big, and it's very easy to have your palm touch it when you're typing or using the pad with the other hand. It's a multi-touch pad, so I've accidentally zoomed on pages or applications that I didn't mean to. There's also no quick key or button to disable it when I don't want it.
-The light for hard drive activity is on the side and not easily observable without moving your head.
-I'm not sure why HP is still including DVD/Blu-ray drives on these. I would have preferred if HP had just gotten rid of it entirely and made up for it with a larger battery (or room for another) or a slimmer style. They have models without them, but you sacrifice some hardware options.
-An option for a larger battery (even one that sticks out of the back) for those who travel a lot and would like something that can last 8 hours in a single sitting.
-The onboard speakers sound really nice, but they are not loud at all. They will not fill up a room if it's noisy.
-For advanced users, there aren't any removable panels for easy upgrade options like a new hard drive or memory. It appears that the whole bottom (or top) has to come off in one piece. I haven't tried this yet, so I don't know how difficult it is to upgrade, but it could be more cumbersome.
-A keypress option to disable the touchscreen would be nice as well.
Overall I recommend it. It's a great price and is reasonably well-built.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Samp This product is not what I expected.
The keyboard and physical appearance are not good. The touch screen and touchpad are not as responsive as I expected them to be.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Miker2 Good, not great
Performance and features are OK for the price. Really wanted an i7 processor but in talking with HP it appears they added the CDROM drive and lost space for the battery which forced them to a lower power processor. Not a good trade for me.
Also way too much "HP Software" that I had to remove.
