I have had this laptop for less than a month, but so far it has been a real disappointment. Today alone, it froze up on me 4 separate times while I was doing simple tasks, and I could not proceed any further. I had to shut down, restart and begin my tasks from the very start. It freezes up a lot when I hit a drop-down menu and select a choice. And when I select an e-mail to read. It's become very frustrating because it is happening with regularity but at unpredictable times. I haven't called Customer Service yet, but I will soon.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by dSLR Great performance laptop for the price
This is a great laptop. A fast quad core i7 processor, nVidia graphics card, good amount of hard drive space and lots of memory. It does not have an internal DVD drive, but those can be purchased separately and are inexpensive. The display is bright and crisp, and the casing itself is beautiful. Great computer at an attractive price!

I received this as a replacement PC only I was FORCED to take Windows 8 rather than Win 7 as I was told Win7 would not run on this model.
As far as performance of the PC it has a PATHETIC display and I got the 1920x 1080p so I can only imagine how awful the standard display would be. You can only see from one angle and it pales in comparison to the previous IPS screens that were in the Envy before. Not sure why HP would do such a horrendous downgrade.
Most of the time the pc runs hot and the fans whirl all the time.
I'll never purchase another HP based on poor quality of product and the HORRENDOUS customer support even when you pay extra for "Special Customer Care".

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Bill1948 Excellent Laptop for Photographers
I ordered this laptop for use as a photographer. I ordered it with 12 GB of RAM which makes for very fast operation of both Lightroom, Photoshop and Adobe Bridge all running at the same time. The 1080P screen is very bright, and has excellent rendering of pure darks to bright highlights. I generate my own color profile (.icc) using a colorimeter and the colors on this screen are very true and print directly to printer with excellent rendition. Battery run time on FULL BRIGHTNESS (140 CD) is about 4 hours, and on 80% brightness (110 CD) is 6 Hours. Charge time from 9% to 100% is 1.5 hours using the charger which came with the computer.
I like the FAST boot up time and the finger print access feature for windows and secure internet sites. The keyboard and "mouse" touch pad are very responsive and easy to use.
After one month of heavy use I am totally satisfied and would buy this unit again in a heartbeat.

Waiting a long time for this laptop only to find it shipped with a faulty keyboard. The spacebar works only some of the time, so writing this paragraph is painful! But I shouldn't be surprised because the last HP that this one replaced had a keyboard replaced 3 times. So I asked for it. Now I have to deal with the whole repair process. I regret my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Portabledog Good value for feature packed laptop
I wanted a windows 7 laptop and was not sure about getting an HP laptop, but after doing my research, the HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition was the best value. It's a great laptop with all the key features one needs. I only wished I could have ordered it with 16 GB RAM, and a higher speed or Solid State HD. The laptop was easy to set up and so far has worked well (I've had it for two weeks). I really like having the fingerprint reader for signing on and the full size keyboard which is quite well laid out. The speakers produces great quality sound too.
