Rated 2 out of 5Â by tav14 Great product with HW problems
If the Envy notebook didn't crash with minor shocks (i.e. putting it down on a hard surface) , my satisfaction with the product and its features would be high, but such a defect overshadows the product qualities.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Unbelievable Problem with graphics adapter
I purchased this laptop because it comes with Windows 7 and has the best features for the price. Unfortunately the first one I received had a defect in the screen and was returned. The second one had problems as well. This laptop comes with a Nvidia graphics adapter but it also has the Intel HD graphics adapter which is the default adapter. I was told it was suppose to be that way; That the Nvidia graphics adapter kicks in when you need high definition resolution. I'm a certified computer and electronics technician who built computers from the 80's though the late 90's before retiring, and this makes absolutely no sense. There is no way to control this feature for using two video adapters to do the job one can do. Even when I loaded an HD video that didn't seem to activate the Nvidia adapter. My assumption was the Intel adapter was built into the motherboard and had not been disabled in the MB BIOS. The tech supervisor walked me through restarting the computer going into BIOS setup, choosing System Configuration, but their was no option listed pertaining to video or video adapters. I returned everything to HP. I've used HP products in the past without issue but this particular model seems to have issues.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by WillyBob Very nice little machine!
I am very happy with my purchase. The Envy 15" laptop is a quality product, and I am happy that I purchased the DVD/CD player with it. Even though much software is available to download from online, occasionally loading via DVD/CD is necessary. Besides, it is nice to be able to listen to some music or watch a movie sometimes.. I also purchased the backlit keyboard feature, however I rarely use it. Not having used a laptop to any extent previously, it didn't take me very long to purchase a KVM switch that allows me to use the desktop keyboard with both the desktop and the laptop. This switch also allows the sharing of the desktop monitor, mouse and speakers. I am happy with those features of the the laptop so I hooked up only the desktop keyboard to the KVM switch. I do use a cordless mouse, however, with the laptop. I had some problems when I first started using the laptop, but those problems soon disappeared after downloading a bunch of updates.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by AveragEd Great laptop!
This is one fast and highly-featured PC. I'm sorry, but Windows 8 and 8.1 leave me less than enthused - in fact, I previously bought another H-P laptop with that OS and took advantage of the store's return policy just 24 hours later. I figured that by the time Microsoft ceases support for Windows 7, something a lot more user-friendly than WIN8 will be out so I didn't feel that I needed to relearn how to use my PC just yet. At age 67, change to "improvements" that don't benefit a casual computer user like me didn't seem worthwhile. I was glad to see H-P start offering WIN7 again and I really enjoy this laptop.

Overall the computer was very affordable, and functions are overall very good. The speakers sound good, but the volume is lacking. The screen quality is average at best. That said, for what we need it for it is more than adequate.
