Customer ratings and reviews for HP ENVY - 15t Laptop

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great display Great display, very fast, sleek. However, Google Chrome looks blurry. I downloaded Maxthon and it works wonderfully as a browser. August 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This laptop is full of features Windows 8.1 requires a learning curve from experience with Windows 7. It would be nice to have a tutorial at the initial power-up stage. But the user interface is wonderful after some orientation. There were no instructions to set up the fingerprint feature, and I needed someone from technical support to help get it established. But after several days and many hours becoming acclimated to the laptop's features and Windows 8, I can see a lot to like from this build and laptop package. It seems to be a very good value for the price. I definitely would recommend this particular model laptop. August 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great price and good performance! I had been needing a new laptop this year as my old HP Pavilion Dv6 was falling apart and the left click button had broke. There are many good things about this laptop as well as a few not so great things. The laptop I bought had these specs: • Windows 8.1 64 • 4th generation Intel Core i7-4510U Dual Core Processor + 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M Graphics • 15.6-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit Display (1920x1080) • 8GB DDR3L System Memory (1 Dimm) • 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive • 4-cell 41WHr Lithium-ion Battery • SuperMulti DVD burner • Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader • 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) [1x1] Now to move on to the pros and cons: Pros: - Good processor (latest Intel Core i7) - Great dedicated video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX850M, 4GB) - Sound and speakers - Backlit keyboard - DVD drive - 1920 x 1080 screen, Matte-like (No glare!) - Does not get too hot or overheat - Lightweight Cons: - Terrible touch pad design - Defective speakers - Fingerprint reader location - Bluetooth device detection - You can only press 2 keys at once - Let me start by saying that the screen is amazing at 1920 x 1080p and it's anti-glare! The backlit keyboard is neat as well. I also love that it has a DVD drive since many of last years HP Envy's did not have one. The speakers are nice, loud, and clear. The Nvidia GeForce GTX dedicated graphics card can handle many games at medium settings and some even on high. The laptop is really lightweight for its specifications and the features that it has. Lastly the laptop does NOT overheat when playing games for a decent amount of time, it only gets a little warm. - Now for the bad. The speakers are slightly defective (it may be the sound drivers) and they make an annoying static like noise at random times. It happens at least 2-3 times a week for me when I use the laptop, it does however clear up in about 5 minutes or if you close and open up the program again from which the sound is playing (restarting the laptop also works). Another issue is the keyboard limitation. You can only press 2 keys at once so it makes playing some games and using certain editing software difficult (Even my old HP Pavilion Dv6 could handle 3 buttons pressed at once!). The location of the finger print reader has also been switched the left side. It can be annoying at times when you're typing and the fingerprint reader detects part of your palm or wrist which causes the fingerprint reader's light to turn on. I ordered laptop with Bluetooth and the detection of Bluetooth devices is bad. It took my laptop about 5 minutes before it could detect my phone which was placed right on the side. Finally the number one problem I have with the laptop is that the touch pad is extremely annoying and at times bothersome. It would zoom in randomly at times, so I had to disable the zoom-in gesture. The touch pad also includes the left click and right click. This is what causes the most problems overall. My old HP Pavilion Dv6 had 2 separate buttons for left click and right click which made navigating and gaming so much easier. The current touch pad on the HP Envy 15t makes it easy to miss click things and accidentally do a left click instead of right click and vice versa. If I could change anything about this laptop it would be the touch pad. - Overall I give the laptop a 4/5 but more accurately a 7/10 due to the touch pad. Had the touch pad been designed with 2 seperate buttons for left click and right click it would have received a 9/10 and be a nearly perfect laptop for its cost and specifications. I do recommend getting this laptop but just know that you WILL also need to buy a mouse if you don't have one already. August 7, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This product has great features(Worth of each cent This product has great features. But i received a defective product(slight annoying noise from speakers-But it's not a big concern)Need to contact the HP customer care once again. August 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by satisfactory features ; good layout delivers what it promised . thoughtful design August 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Slowness issues. Hybrid hard drive slows down the system. I see this problem while opening a new folder or downloading something using browser. System just gets stuck for 30 seconds or so and does nothing. I checked CPU usage, RAM usage and disk usage. It looks like disk is culprit here. Hybrid hard drive are supposed to improve speed but it seems that this one slows you down further. DO NOT GO FOR HYBRID HARD DRIVE WITH THIS MACHINE. THEY SEEMS TO SUPPLY A BAD QUALITY HYBRID HARD DRIVE WHICH AFFECTS ENTIRE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE. July 28, 2014
