First of all, I have been an HP fan for the past 10 years. My past 2 laptops were HPs, and this was supposed to be my third.
The hard drive had a ticking sound.
Poor screen even though it's 1080p
Did not come with the latest drivers
Part of the keyboard would be pressed down if you press the keys around the "s" area
Very big and heavy power adapter. They don't tell you this but you have to carry this around with you.
Global warranty not honored. So don't purchase this unit if you plan to use it abroad for a lengthy duration.
I have been an HP fan, but from now on, I will never purchase an HP laptop again.

I can't believe how quickly it boots up. So far that's been the best feature. I haven't had much of a chance to use the computer because it came with problems and is now waiting to be picked up and sent back to HP for a new Bluetooth chip. The computer was only 2 days old when I realized the Bluetooth stopped working. I'm hoping once it gets fixed, I won't find any other issues with it.

I ordered this laptop to replace a 17 inch gaming laptop that I was also using for business. At 4lbs lighter, this Envy is easier to deal with at a TSA probing. The screen is very crisp, it's nice to have a touchscreen along with 4 USB3 ports. I didn't add the Bluetooth, but now wish that I would have. I added the Nvidia Graphics so I would be able to play if I wanted to, and WOW, it's a VERY capable laptop now.
Basically, it's my 9lb 17inch behemoth, in a 5lb 15inch container. I LOVE this 15 inch Envy, and so do my co-workers..

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Puru Great computer with minor design flaws
As a college student/casual gamer, I decided to purchase this laptop about two months ago. My exact computer specifications are posted at the bottom of the review. This laptop is definitely more than enough for what I do in college, and is a pretty decent gaming laptop as well considering its cost. The NVidia GPU and 4700MQ combined with the SSD acceleration and 8 GB ram is more than enough to power through most games I have (Total War: Rome II, Crysis 2, Assassin's Creed Series, etc) on medium to medium-high setting without significant lag. The touchscreen is also great and very useful for drawing quick diagrams in Onenote for class, or even just for fun. The downsides to this lapptop, however, are that its touchpad feels a bit flimsier than I would like (I'm spoiled, though, as I have a gaming mouse) and that the touchscreen occasionally acts up (refuses to scroll when I'm scrolling through documents, etc.), but these are not deal breakers for me. HP's inclusion of a fingerprint scanner is somewhat useful, as one can only log into the computer and do other very basic tasks with it; I have not yet found a way to use the scanner to log into websites or do anything really useful with it. The speakers on this laptop are, as to be expected, pretty weak compared to a thicker laptop; I would take the thinness over loudness, since I use earphones when I really want to listen to music/sound effects. The quality of speakers is not poor, just the maximum loudness; it can still be pretty loud, but I have had cheaper (but larger) laptops that do significantly more in terms of that. The fans are very effective, and I have no complaints about them, particularly after coming from a laptop with serious heat problems. All in all, this computer is a *great* idea to buy, but don't expect it to be perfect.

I bought the HP ENVY Touchsmart 15t-j100 hoping that it would be the best laptop yet. Performance wise, it is the most powerful 15 inch laptop available from HP. Upon receiving the laptop I am greatly disappointed. I have been an HP customer for 14 years and this is the worst laptop I purchased yet. The trackpad/mouse pad is horrible. It is incredibly difficult to press the left or right click. You have to apply great force with every click, it makes using the laptop with only a track pad almost unusable. I have no idea how they could allow for such a faulty line of products to be released to the public, you think they would have sent it back for testing. Don't let customer service tell you it can be fixed either. This is a problem across the entire line of ENVY laptops. And no the problem doesn't improve, I have had the laptop for 3 weeks and it is still hard to press the trackpad buttons. It's sad honestly because everything else about the laptop is great. It's very powerful and not many other laptops sold by other companies look as sleek or have beats audio. HP has lost a loyal customer.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by SirWilliam Great Value!
This laptop came with exactly what I was looking for. I very much appreciate the ability to configure the PC with the options I want instead of purchasing from a retail store. The performance is as fast as I expected. The reasons for not giving a 5-star rating are: 1) the display doesn't angle as far back as my old laptop and I would prefer that it tilted just a bit more 2) I prefer buttons on the touch pad instead of the integrated single pad as I don't always accomplish the intended right or left click. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this laptop.
