Customer ratings and reviews for ENVY 17t-j000 Quad - Best Value

Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It It's great but..... there is no bluetooth support, even with out that it's still an amazing computer. February 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent This notebook surpassed my expectations. I'm so glad I bought it. February 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty good for the price but no Bluetooth support This machine is pretty loaded with good features for the price. However, it did not come equipped with a Bluetooth transceiver. I have been using a Bluetooth printer and Bluetooth speakers for 5 years with the laptop that this computer replaced. This was a feature that I forget to customized into the machine. It was very disappointing when I tried to print with Bluetooth and I did not have a pairing device on the machine. .So now I have to use up one of my precious USB ports to send Bluetooth data to my printer and my speakers. Also the machine came with virtualization disabled in the BIOS. Hence virtual machines created for running Linux will not function. It took a whole day of precious time trying to find out what the problem was. These are my only two issues with the computer February 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A-lot of computer for the money Very pleased with this computer. My only complaint is that it's ability to pick up WiFi is very weak (limited). Where my old laptop and more recent tablet can pick up just fine....the Envy just doesn't live up to the name. February 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall... very pleased! Been with this new machine for a a couple weeks now and it has failed to let me down. It replaces a five year old Vista machine which served me well, but this new laptop has opened my eyes to how fast a computer can be. Three weeks to custom build seemed a little extreme to me, might have been easier to just buy a prebuilt model from the web site or from a local store. Overall, very happy with the build of this machine and the service I received from hp, would definitely look here again for future computer needs. February 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by It is fast, but... This PC is a 17.3" laptop, yet it has very tiny keys & seem "crammed" together. The up/down arrows, the main enter key & the DEL key (all the F keys are way to compact to tell the truth) are the main annoyances of the miniscule sized keys. The Envy does not make full use of the "real estate" to keep a larger keyboard, which it should. My older DV7-3079WM laptop has a much larger keyboard, & feels better too. And while I'm comparing. My new Envy has: A less "spit & polished" look vs. my DV Has a weaker keyboard, meaning, I see lots of flex on the left side of my Envy while my DV has a solid feel. My DV has a button to shut of the mouse pad, the Envy does not. The Envy does not have indicators on the scroll lock & num lock keys like my DV does. My Envy has a flimsy CD tray (& it came a bit warped & scratched), not what I'd expect from a $1000+ PC, while my DV has a solid CD tray. My DV is mechanically, structurally better & it is physically & visually more appealing & better looking than my new Envy. HP engineers took 3 steps back I feel. My Envy is "stuck" on turbo boost, which is too fast for some programs & there seems to be no way to limit CPU clock speed. I can't shut off HP auto updates, including the BIOS & the nagging extended warranty popup. All in all, if I could put the performance of my Envy into my DV, I'd toss my brand new PC which I'm 60% happy with right now. I included pictures of my Envy next to my 4 year old DV7 to show how much better the DV looks, & you can see how the keyboard was larger to make use of the large space in hopes someone actually reads my feedback, looks at my pictures, & does something about it by showing the design engineers how they dropped the ball, big time. You can email me if you want. Butch. February 5, 2014
