Customer ratings and reviews for HP ENVY Phoenix 810-150se Desktop PC

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with my computer I love that I could customize this computer to my needs. It is quite fast and powerful and it cost less than building it myself. April 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Heart broken It worked 3 days and completely crashed. Support was OK, it took 4 days to get it back running and now the card readers don't work. I haven't got a chance to see what it will do cause I've spent all my time with it trying to get it to work. Oh, and when you uninstall Mcafee you have no virus protection and CAN NOT turn on Windows Defender. Not what I expected from this "High Performance" computer. March 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by review of the h9-1355 Phoenix Need better graphics March 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Machine for Fedora Linux I am a retired person with a technical background, and I was looking to upgrade my old hardware to a more powerful platform for my Apache Web Server and technical applications. I purchased a unit with an Intel i7-4930K hexa-core processor, 32 GB of RAM. I installed the "root" Linux system software on the 256 GB SSD primary hard drive (for high performance), the "/var" filesystem on the secondary 7200 RPM 3TB hard drive (for my web pages for my Apache web server), and the "/home" file system on the tertiary 7200 RPM 3TB hard drive (for LaTeX documents, code, word processing, and other odds and ends). Loading the Fedora Linux from DVD media required a trick, namely disabling the "Smart Boot" feature of the system BIOS (use the F10 key immediately a power on), turning on the Power On Self Test (POST), and adding a small boot delay (five seconds or so) to give yourself a chance to load the DVD. Perhaps it's been too long since I bought a new PC, but it took me a while to realize that in order to boot first from the DVD drive, you have to halt the boot (using the Escape key) EVERY time you want to do so (older machines that I am familiar with merely required telling the machine only ONCE to permanently change the boot order). The only disappointment that I had was that the Linux operating system (Release 19 and Release 20) did not have a driver to recognize the dual-band wireless card. The 100 GB/sec WIRED port works just fine, and intended to use that anyway for my Apache Web Pages. This is a problem with Linux, not the PC card itself, and I suspect that the default single-band card will work just fine. January 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Envy Phoenix Very good product, has not disappointed me at all. Met my expectations from the start up. January 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Who Could Ask For Anything More? I am a creative director, video producer/director/editor, graphic designer and mid-level gaming enthusiast and I must say this box - straight of the box - was and is brilliant! I know there are more powerful machines on the market but at this price it truly - TRULY can't be beat! I have now had my HP ENVY Phoenix 810-150se (base hardware options) for several days and I can happily report it cuts through every program like butter! Anyone who knows anything about Flight Simulator X, knows it's the king of all system sapping programs - without any system tweaking I am now running FSX, with Accelerator Pack at upwards of 50+fps with maximum settings and am accomplishing 25-28fps sitting at the end of the running at LAX which is no small feat - it's truly a dream come true for anyone longing to experience FSX in all it's glory. Much has been written about the so-called troublesome Windows 8.1 but initial set-up was painless and I have encountered NO program compatibility issues with Photoshop CS2, modern HD video/photo editing software or the aforementioned FSX. All programs loaded and run as they should - and extraordinarily well! No crashing - glitches - hick-ups - not one. And as for those waxing poetic about Windows 7, it's basically there in the form of an alternate desk-top that's accessible with just the click of your mouse. The box itself is well designed with the "fashion conscious" in mind - it's sexy and stylish - emitting a gentle red glow and it's incredibly quiet. The uncluttered guts of the rig are easily view-able and accessible (the window and red LED's help with that) and I was able to install my work drive in minutes - with no tools - but be advised you'll need your own SATA cable. I am an EXTREMELY cynical consumer and did my share of homework and hand-ringing over the purchase of my new HP (which is now my second) and I honestly couldn't be happier. Kudos to the fine folks at HP that put together this wonderful machine! January 17, 2014
