Customer ratings and reviews for HP USB 2.0 2005pr Port Replicator

Rated 1 out of 5 by Product NOT compatible with Windows 8 The product does not display video to an external monitor when using Windows 8. I even upgraded to the latest DisplayLink drivers, had the latest hw drivers and Windows updates and the video still did not work. I am returning the product and will try the USB 3.0 version of the hub. January 31, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product does not meet expectations The USB port replicator is not compatible with the all computers and is not pointed out when purchased. January 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Compact & Versatile The HP USB 2/0 port replicator is compact enough not to crowd my desk and versatile enough that I can plug any laptop or desktop into it and have full functionality with my desktop peripherals in seconds. It is a great tool for centralized maintenance of multiple devices in any home or office. January 14, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Did not meet my expectations This replicator will not fully work with all graphics cards and or windows 8 . When I tried to hook up an external monitor to the replicator it would cause a conflict with the monitor on my laptop. The laptop monitor became useless until I reconfigured my laptop back to the factory settings (F11 key function). This was very frustrating since this is not a quick process. Since the tech people were not aware of this problem I had to go thru this process twice since HP tried to have me install the replicator a second time, which also did not work. Finally they told me that I could not use an external monitor with my laptop which defeated the purpose I got the replicator in the first place. Bottom line I am still not sure if the conflict was with Windows 8 or with the Graphics card I had on my laptop. HP did allow me to return the replicator but I was very frustrated that I had to go thru all of the reconfigurations before they realized there was an issue. December 26, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Functional What I needed for my Mohter in Law's HP Notebook was a desktop solution that would allow for her to use an external keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers while either keeping the notebook open or closed. If the laptop were to be removed from the desk, only 1 cable would need to be removed/connected. Upon installation, the port replicator would not recognize a basic VGA monitor, would not provide a power charge when the power was connected to the port replicator. Both the power and monitor was usable when connected directly to the computer. I did install the drivers that were included with the port replicator. After these major flaws and a number of reviews stating similar quality issues, I returned the port replicator for a full refund, which HP did provide. December 4, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not support video The unit I received did not install properly and neither video port works. I exchanged several email with customer service, which promised to send me a new one. However, I discovered in the user manual that only one of its two video ports can be used at a time. This was not made clear in the HP website description of the product. Very disappointing. November 29, 2012
