Customer ratings and reviews for HP USB 2.0 2005pr Port Replicator

Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what I thought I was getting I expected a port replicator that my laptop would snap into, yet this is not the case. The monitor port does not work, it worked for @ 1 week and then quit. I am not sure how durable this will be. I need something for a long term solution, this seems to be made for occasional use. It is very small and lightweight, but when all the connections are made it becomes a block of cords that has no place to go. This may work well for some people, but I have never seen a port replicator like this. I would not purchase this again. May 14, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Absolutely Horrible As many have mentioned, the video port are shotty at best. We were able to get a monitor connected to the vga port the first time but have been unable to get it to work after. The laptop (HP DV7) knows there is a second monitor connected but it will not display anything on the screen. Will never choose an HP peripheral such as this again. May 9, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not compatible for Windows 8 I am going to have to return the replicator because it is not compatible with Windows 8 which the laptop that I purchased with it has Windows 8. Very disappointed that the description did not say that April 25, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by The product works not all notebook computers Be aware before you buy. When I ordered my notebook Envy dv6 online, it offered HP USB 2.0 Replicator at 15% discount and I took it. However, it took me more than two days of testing before I realized the product did not work with my new notebook. In the end, I returned the product back. April 11, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK - but not as good as docking station Bought the port replicator to go with my new HP laptop for work. I replaced an older HP laptop and docking station. I liked the convenience of just popping the computer into the docking station on my desk. The port replicator is a bit more difficult as I have to plug in the power cord and the port replicator connection. Features are nice with plenty of ports. It doesn't look like a docking station is an option with the Spectre XT TouchSmart - so I guess going thin and light has some drawbacks. Overall I love the computer and the port replicator serves its purpose. March 27, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Ok but lacking Laptop can't make network connection via the docking station since trying both laptop and docking station connections simultaneously. Need to disable and then re-enable the USB LAN adapter to get things to work. Once connected, the USB LAN connection cannot handle the newer high speed LAN connections like Verizon's Quantum 50mbps down/25mbps up. Through the USB LAN typically limited to 15mbp down but somehow still gets 25mbps up. Connecting direct to laptop LAN connection get true 58mbps download speeds. Newer USB3 docking stations might help but they no longer include VGA support so no real option presently. All of the current HP docking stations just seem useless for the most part. March 19, 2013
